Education

Educational History:

I graduated in 1984 from Iola High School in Iola-a small town in Southeast Kansas. After graduating from Iola, I went to Allen Country Community College and earned an Associate Arts Degree in Business Administration in May 1986. Shortly afterward, I left the Southeast Kansas area, moved to Manhattan, KS, and became a Kansas State University Wildcat. Go Cats!

Soon after enrolling at K-State, I realized that Business Administration and I were not a great fit. So, I transferred to the College of Education and received my Bachelor of Science in 1990-a decision I never regretted. Years later I returned to school and obtained a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from WSU. (1999)

Professional Experience

Current Position:

Since Fall 2003 I have taught 6^th grade English/Language Arts at Augusta Middle School.

Previous Position:

After substitute teaching in Johnson County. KS from 1990-1992, I moved to Augusta in 1992 to begin teaching with USD #402. From 1992 to 1998 I worked at Robinson Elementary teaching 4^th grade from 1992-98 and first grade from 1998-2002. Teaching first grade at Robinson Elementary led me to teach first grade at Ewalt Elementary during the 2002-2003 school year. In addition to my student teaching position, my years of substitute teaching, and years as a full-time teacher, becoming a Nationally Board Certified teacher in 2002 has greatly impacted my experience as a teacher.

Family Info

Family Information:

My husband and I were married in 1995. We were blessed with the birth of our daughter in 2004. As a family, we enjoy traveling, watching movies and TV shows, and sharing meals together.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, knitting, singing in my church’s choir, and spending time traveling with my family and friends.
